HOW DO WE NAVIGATE SPACE?

An original, devised hybrid of film and theatre. This work explores the experiences of Chicagoans navigating through our current, drastically-changed world, and was inspired by surveys submitted by Chicago residents sharing their experiences during 2020. Combining movement, music, visual art and the voices of Chicagoans, this project expresses a non-linear story of our diverse and complex city in the search for connection.

“Written with imagination, elegiac splendor and sensitivity…”

-Colin Douglas, Chicago Theatre Review

“…a beautiful, poetic, sad and absurd piece of filmed theater…”

-Nancy S. Bishop, Third Coast Review

“In essence, what Strawdog is doing is unrolling the scroll and removing the mask to show how the past year has exposed nerve ends and uncomfortable truths about a year marked not just by an incomprehensibly deadly disease, but also by uprisings against the chronic societal failings represented by institutional racism and white supremacy.”

- Kerry Reid, Chicago Reader

“…it addresses the fears, frustrations and loss of freedom affecting us all.”

-Anne Spiselman, Hyde Park Herald
